Arizona State continues to add to their volleyball staff with the addition of Nellie Coleman as the indoor and beach teams Director of Volleyball Operations.

Sanja Tomasevic (indoor) and Brad Keenan (beach) are in their first seasons as head coaches for their respective sports.

“Nellie has an acute knowledge of the game, having competed at the highest levels of volleyball,” said Tomasevic. “Given the experiences she has garnered as both a competitor and assistant coach, and the successes she has in turn earned, she will be an important asset in our evolution as a team moving forward.”

Coleman was previously with the University of Portland from 2014-16 as assistant coach. In her two seasons with the Pilots, Coleman was in charge of player development, scouting and camp coordination, while also acting primarily as the team’s recruiting coordinator.

As a player, Coleman earned a number of awards as setter for the UCLA volleyball squad. She was a three-time AVCA First-Team All-American, a three-time All-Pac-10 selectee and a three-time All-Pacific Region member. She concluded her career with 6,000 assists, the second most in program history and 1,299 digs, the third most in program history.

In 2009, Coleman collected her degree from UCLA with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology.

Following her collegiate career, Coleman played professionally from 2011-2014. Most recently, Coleman competed with Shanghai Volleyball Club from 2013-2014.

Coleman had the opportunity to play with the U.S. National Team from 2008-2012. During her time on the national squad, Coleman was able to help guide the team to a gold at the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix and a bronze at the 2011 Pan American Cup.
