Freshman Ashley Brown has transferred into Washington State University, joining their indoor volleyball team.
Brown is transferring in from Oklahoma after competing with the team for just one season. The Sooners posted a 14-15 overall record, also going 5-11 in Big 12 action.
During her high school career with Prosper High School, Brown was a three-year starting setter and a two-time Texas Girls Coaching Association 5A All-State selection. In 2015, Brown was named as the District MVP and District Setter of the Year in 2016. She helped to lead Prosper HS to runner-up at the state championship in 2014.
Brown played for two club volleyball teams over the course of seven years, Lonestar Volleyball and Texas Advantage Volleyball. In her 2015 season, she was named to the 17-Open National All-Tournament team after her team placed third at the tournament. The following year, Brown was named to the USAV 18-Open Nationals All-Tournament team and the AAU 18-Open Nationals All-Tournament team.
On a national level, Brown was recognized in PrepVolleyball.com’s Sophomore 79 list, Top 50 Junior list and was number 76 on the Senior Aces list. To cap off her prep career, Brown earned the AVCA Under Armour All-America Honorable Mention team selection.
In 2016, the Cougars advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship tournament, going 22-12 overall on the year, the most wins in a season since 2002.
