Thomas Edgar, the 6’11” Australian Opposite, is headed to Japan for the 2017 season. Edgar will spend the season with JT Thunders, the 2014-15 V.Premier League Champions based in Hiroshima City.

This will be the first season in Japan for Edgar. The 28 year-old Aussie spent last season with Drean Bolivar, where he scored a league high 726 points en route to a Liga Argentina de Voleibol Championship. In addition to his year in Argentina, the world-traveling tenth year professional previously made stops in China, South Korea, Italy, Poland, and Sweden.

The addition of Edgar is a clear indication that JT Thunders is looking to make a move up the leaderboard after a disappointing seventh place finish this past season.

This move will put two of the most exciting Opposites in the world in the V.Premier League this coming season, the other being Igor Omrcen, the 6’10” Croatian National who plays for 2014-15 champions Toyoda Gosei Trefuerza.  Toyoda Gosei lost this past season’s final to Toray Arrows.

Edgar is perhaps most well known for scoring an FIVB record 50 points in a 2015 match against Egypt. This record setting performance led Australia to a 23-25, 26-24, 25-23, 20-25, 15-13 win in a FIVB World Cup match which took place in, you guessed it, Japan.
