The AVCA has announced their selection for 2017 Player of the Year in Stanford’s Kathryn Plummer. This is the second season in a row that Plummer has been nationally recognized at the end of the season by the AVCA as she took home the 2016 AVCA Freshman of the Year.

On the year, Plummer put down an average of 4.66 kills per set while hitting for .319. Additionally, Plummer has recorded 1.92 digs per set and 0.72 blocks per set. Plummer helped lead the Cardinals to the #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, which was cut short by Florida in the semifinal round in a tough five-set match. In 11 matches this season, Plummer posted 20 or more kills while posting eight double-doubles on the year.
This season, Plummer has taken home a number of awards such as Pac-12 Player of the Year and the AVCA Pacific North Region Player of the Year. She has also garnered her second straight First Team All-American honor this season along with the ESPNW Player of the Year.

Plummer is the ninth player in Stanford history to garner the award, being the first since Foluke Akinradewo picked up the award in 2007. From the Pac-12, six of the last eight AVCA Players of the Year have come from the conference, with the Big Ten accounting for the other two.
