The AVP tour, America’s major beach volleyball tour, has now unveiled 6 of the 8 stops for the 2017 tour, and organizer’s will return to the shores of Lake Michigan for its next tour championship from August 31st-September 3rd.

This will be the third-straight year that the tour has gone to Chicago as the tour continues to diversify its offerings. Last year, the tour championship was held on Chicago’s Oak Street Beach. Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena won the men’s tournament while Brooke Sweat and Lauren Fendrick won the women’s title.

Chicago was a regular stop on the AVP tour, hosting an event almost every year from 1984 through 2009. The tour was absent, however, from the Windy City from 2012 until it returned in 2015, and a year later the tour concluded its season with its marquee event, after the Rio Olympics, back in the country’s third-largest city.

The tour has now announced 6 of the 8 events for the 2017 season. Besides regular and typical tournaments at Huntington Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Hermosa Beach, the tournament will head to San Francisco in early July; Seattle in late June; and Austin in mid-May. Austin
