Class of 2021 recruit Lauren Briseno has verbally committed to the Baylor University women’s volleyball program. A defensive specialist/libero, Briseno becomes the third commitment for the Bears that has been registered in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database for the class of 2021.

The other commits in that class for Baylor are a pair of setters, as Briseno gives things a little variety. Those two players joining her are Molly Kipp out of Arizona and Faith Lynch from Texas.

Briseno will be a sophomore this upcoming fall at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas. She was not listed on the varsity roster as a freshman, but it was a loaded roster that went 44-2 and made the Regional Finals. By the time she does make varsity, which could happen this season, it won’t be the first big time recruit from the school. Reagan High School is sending outside hitter Elissa Barbosa to Georgetown this year and previously had setter Morgan Reed, who would eventually be All-Big 12, attend Baylor.

On the club side of things, Briseno plays with Alamo Volleyball Association and most recently the Alamo 15 Premier team. She also continues her career in the sand with 210 Beach Volleyball. Video of her play from club ball can be seen here via her SportsRecruits page.

Baylor is coming off of one of the best seasons in program history, as they went 24-7 overall and 13-3 for a second place Big 12 finish. That led to them hosting in the NCAA Tournament, where they made the second round.
