The Denver Pioneers added Becca Mau, a transfer from Idaho, for the 2017 season. The 6’0″ outside hitter will have one year left of eligibility as she will have senior classification this next academic year.

In her three seasons with Idaho, Mau appeared in 83 matches while totaling 2.51 kills per set in her stint with the Vandals. As a junior in 2016, she logged career-highs in kills (316), kills per set (2.70), digs per set (1.06) and blocks per set (0.36).

“Becca immediately impacted our gym from the first day of training in January,” Denver head coach Tom Hogan said in the Denver release. “She is extremely intelligent, skilled and brings a wealth of experience to our team. We are excited to welcome Becca back to Colorado, and proud to have her finish her collegiate career as a Pioneer.”

As Hogan mentioned, Mau is originally from the state of Colorado where she attended Longmont High School. In her prep days, she earned conference Player of the Year twice and garnered some type of All-State accolade in each of her four years – First Team in 2013, Second Team in 2012, Honorable Mention in 2010 and 2011.

The Pioneers went 23-9 last season, good enough for an NCAA Tournament berth before falling to eventual National Champion Stanford in the first round. They preceded that with two straight 27-win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2017, they will go for a fourth straight NCAA Tournament with plenty back in addition to a few new additions. Denver’s season will kick-start on August 19th when they participate in their Crimson vs. Gold match. It’ll be Mau’s first opportunity to impress in a game-like situation.
