Eight games of play rounded up the second leg of the the 2019 W European Championship Qualifiers. As was expected, Belgium, Croatia, Ukraine, and France plowed through its competition, including a 25-6 set Belgium set against Israel. This is the kind of unexpected result that one would only see in this unusual kind of qualifier. Here is the day’s recap:

Belgium, ranked 13th in the world, wiped the floor with Israel, ranked 35th, in a game that had a 25-6 set. According to the Belgian coach, Ger Vande Broek, this had nothing to do with the lack of parity between the teams, but only with his team’s superb play:
“Israel wasn’t week, we just played excellent. Now the challenge is to keep the level high.”
