The Belmont Bruins made the addition of Haley Sullivan, a transfer from Illinois-Chicago, to their 2017 roster. After two seasons in her previous stint, Sullivan will be a junior in 2017 and have two years left of play.
A 5’3″ defensive specialist/libero, Sullivan appeared in three matches and nine sets in 2015 as a freshman at Illinois-Chicago. Her playing time took a jump in year two as she saw action in 29 matches and 99 sets. As a defensive specialist who rotated in off the bench, she amassed 83 digs and 17 service aces.
Prior to her two-year stay with Illinois Chicago, Sullivan prepped as a three-year starter at Lemont High School in Illinois and played for the 1st Alliance volleyball club. She finished her high school career with 924 digs and 87 aces, as 395 digs and 26 aces came as a senior in 2014.
Sullivan joins a team that features two other defensive specialists/liberos and one outside hitter/defensive specialist on the roster. Both of the true defensive specialists/liberos are seniors while the other is an incoming freshman.
Belmont collected a winning record of 16-12 last season, as they also went 10-7 in conference play. It was their sixth straight winning season.
