Bethel College volleyball coach Scott Weston has announced his resignation, effective July 1.

Weston submitted his resignation expressing the desire to be closer to his family.

Weston came to Bethel in 2016 from McCook (Nebraska) Community College, where he was head volleyball coach as well as assistant housing director.

In his one season at MCC, Weston coached one All-Region and 10 Academic All-Region players. The team was named All-Tournament and Weston was Region IX Coach of the Year.

“I would like to thank Bethel College for extending me the opportunity to lead the Thresher volleyball program, and wish it continued success in the future,” Weston said.

Weston is a graduate of Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, with a major in physical education, a minor in athletic coaching, and K-12 education certification.

“I would like to thank Scott for his commitment to the Bethel College volleyball program,” said Tony Hoops, athletic director. “While his time at Bethel was short, I appreciate his commitment to improving the program this past off-season and leaving it in a position for his successor to be competitive this upcoming season.”

Efforts to secure a coach for Bethel’s 2017 volleyball season have already begun, and will include “exploring all viable options,” Hoops said.
