Bruno Rezendo, better known to fans as Bruninho, is a legend in Italy’s Serie A1 club Modena. In his three different stints with the team (2011; 2014-16; 2017-present), he has racked up numerous titles and awards. At 31 years of age, he also has an Olympic gold medal to his name as Brazil’s starting setter in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
After winning everything that there is to win in the volleyball world, one would think that Bruninho is already thinking about retirement in the future, or looking for motivation to continue playing. That is not the case. For the delight of volleyball fans everywhere, here is what he had to say about his future as a volleyball player in an interview given to italian website Gazzeta.it:
Passion is my fuel, so I do not set an age limit to stop playing. Setters have a much longer careers in volleyball then other players. So I will play at least up to 40-42 years of age, maybe with Modena and Brazil.
That is a lofty goal, but obtainable. Several setters have enjoyed successful careers into their 40’s, like American Lloy Ball and Brazil’s Hélia Souza (Fofão). With Bruninho‘s drive, heart, and competitiveness, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he also follows into the footsteps of these two legends. He definitely enjoys doing what he is doing. Here is a message he shared today with his 1 million Instagram followers, celebrating Athletes’ Day, a commemorative date in Brazil:

Bruninho is a six time Brazilian Superliga Champion, a one time Italian Champion, and a three times Italian Cup Champion. With the Brazilian national team, he has won 2 World Leagues, 2 Grand Champions Cup, 1 World Cup, 1 World Championship, and an Olympic gold medal. He was named best setter in 4 Brazilian Superligas, 2 Grand Champions Cup, 1 World League, and of 2016’s Olympic Games.
