On Friday, the semifinals were played for the Women’s African Nations Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon. The winners of each semifinal match were also to book their tickets to the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Japan.

Kenya faced Egypt in the first semifinal. It was a tight match throughout, but the Kenyans defeated the Egyptians 3-0 to advance to the final and also pick up their spot for next year. Edith Wisah Mukuvulani led the Kenyans with 14 points, while Aya Eishamy led the Egyptians with 15 points.
