Canakkale Adds Another Transfer to Boost 1-4 Start to Sultan League

33-year old Brazilian opposite Joyce Silva, also known as Joycinha, will stay in Turkey for the 2017-2018 season, but under a new club. She will make the chump next season from Bursa BB to Canakkale Belediyespor.

This is the 2nd big move from Canakkale in the last 2 weeks to try and jump-start an otherwise lackluster beginning to the year. They also added NCAA All-American Paulina Prieto Cerame from the University of Texas in mid-October.

The team is just 1-4 this season, and have a tough road ahead – their next match is against Ecazcibasi Vitra, one of the three-headed monster at the top of the Sultan Liga that is 5-0 with the maximum 15 points on the season so far. The team placed 6th last year with an even 11-11 record. While the two additions have been offensive ones, it’s Canakkale’s defense that has so far challenged Canakkale.

Joycinha began her career with the Brazilian National Team in 2005 at the age of 21, and was an alternate selection for the 2008 Olympic Team.

Silva is 1.91 meters tall (6’3″) and Canakkale hailed her as the “queen of the opposites” in last year’s league (though Tijana Boskovic might dispute that).
