2017 FIVB WORLD TOUR – POREC MAJOR
- June 26 to July 2
- Five-Star Event
- Schedule
After beginning their Porec weekend in the country quota stage of the event, Gustavo “Guto” Carvalhaes and Pedro Solberg become the second men’s team in the 30 season history of the FIVB World Tour to win an international event after beginning play in that round. The only other team to accomplish this feat were fellow Brazilian’s Marcio Araujo/Fabio Magalhaes. The same accomplishment was reached by Solberg’s sister Carolina Salgado just two weeks ago at The Hague tournament with Maria Antonelli.

In the championship match, Carvalhaes/Solberg took down Italian’s Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai in a 2-1, (18-21, 25-23, 15-9) battle.
The Brazilian’s take home the $40,000 first-place prize while the runner-up’s will cash in a $32,000 check. Porec is a five-star event on the FIVB World Tour, meaning that the media coverage, size and payout is much larger than any other level of play on the tournament on the tour.
