Caterina Bosetti‘s graphic injury (Video) in Modena‘s last game of the season shocked fans. She has since undergone surgery, and it is yet unknown if she’ll be able to represent Italy in the international stage this year. Prior to surgery, she had already stated that this was perhaps the hardest ordeal she had to ever go through in life, and thanked all of her fans Italians and Brazilians for the support she received.
After a successful operation, Caterina once again took to social media to share her feelings with fans (Gazzetta.it):
“So many are the thoughts that flow in my head these days: from the ugliest ones, which immediately jumped to my mind last Saturday night, up to the most positive ones, after I underwent surgery here in Rome, at Villa Stuart, and for which I thank Professor Pier Paolo Mariani along with all his staff. From here on, I will start my rehabilitation in the next few days. I must say that I was really excited to receive all this affection from the world of Italian volleyball and more, in such a difficult and delicate moment for me. A special thought goes to my family, which is always present, but also to my teammates who will have to face these playoffs without me. They made me drop a tear after delivering a beautiful bouquet of flowers in my room after the operation.
I would also like to say that I am an athlete and like all athletes I know that these are just incidents along the way: it is up to us to decide how to deal with them. I will deal with it 100%, like everything else I do in my life. In this way I’m sure I’ll come out like a lioness (NOTE: Modena players are called lioness by fans and media)!”
Caterina is still only 24 years old, which favors a full recovery. She has been a part of Italy’s national team since 2011.
VolleyMob’s staff wishes her a speedy and successful recovery.
