Charlotte is tacking on another player to its roster in the form of a transfer with Yumi Garcia, a 5’0″ defensive specialist/libero. After playing one season at Bethel University in Tennessee (NAIA), Garcia will be a sophomore in 2017 and have three years left of eligibility.

In 2016, Garcia appeared in all of Bethel’s 35 matches and 120 sets, as she recorded a team-high 554 digs at the libero position. She added 61 assists and 34 aces en route to the SSAC’s All-Freshman, All-Conference and All-Tournament teams.

Prior to her time in the Agriculture and Commerce state, Garcia spent her prep career at Colegio Regina Mundi in Cerejeiras, Brazil. She was a part of a U18 Championship in 2014 and a U16 title in 2012. Her play even earned her time in the Brazilian National Team program.

Garcia is listed as just one of three defensive specialists/liberos on the 2017 roster for Charlotte. One is an incoming freshman, with Garcia and the third coming in as transfers from non-Division-I schools, meaning playing time at the position is wide open.

She will also join Moea Osbey as a transfer for the upcoming edition of this Charlotte team, after Osbey transferred in from Western Carolina. Charlotte finished with a 7-23 record in the 2016 season, as they went 1-13 in conference play.
