Class of 2020 outside hitter Mychael Vernon has committed to the Oregon State University women’s volleyball program.

Standing at 5’11”, Vernon is currently a junior at Ossining High School in New York. She appeared with the varsity team as early as in eighth grade, and in her first three seasons collected 1,123 kills (5.8 per set) on a .515 hitting percentage, 595 digs (3.1 per set), 131 aces (0.7 per set) and 39 blocks (0.2 per set) according to her MaxPreps profile.

On the club circuit, Vernon plays with Downstate Juniors Volleyball Club and the 17 Black team.

Video highlights of her play can be seen below via her Hudl page:

It’s not the first 2020 commitment for the Beavers either. Vernon joins MB/OH/DS Lexi Gonzalez as part of the recruiting class for Oregon State.

The Beavers are off to a 10-2 start to 2018 as they enter conference play this week. They’re also ranked 24th in the latest VolleyMob Top 25 Power Rankings. Last year they earned a 21-12 mark and an 11-9 record in the Pac-12 en route to an NCAA Tournament appearance.
