Spalding has signed a three-year deal with Consorzio Vero Volley next season after both the men’s and women’s squads qualified for the top tier of the European CEV Challenge Cup.
Last season the team was sponsored by apparel company Macron which also sponsors other teams within the Italian league such as Bunge Ravenna.
The American company has a rich history in the production of equipment for major league sports such as Basketball, Baseball, and American Football. The company also is responsible for manufacturing the first American Volleyball in 1895.
The entire team will be dressed in Spalding gear including its youth teams, first teams, coaching staff, managers, physiotherapists, athletic trainers, and more.
Both the men’s and women’s first teams are competitors in the top Italian leagues. The men’s team competes in the SuperLiga whereas the women’s team competes in the A1 division.
Last year the women, playing as Saugella Team Monza, finished fifth overall in the season before losing to Busto Arsizio in the quarterfinals of playoffs. Competing as Gi Group Monza, the men’s team in the SuperLiga finished 10th in the regular season last year failing to make playoffs.
The men’s and women’s first teams in the SuperLiga and A1 division will be wearing their Spalding uniforms when they play their first games on October 14th for the men and October 28th for the women.
