Covenant College Makes Best Shot of 2017 NCAA Volleyball Season

The volleyball team at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia might have just scored the best basketball shot of the 2017-2018 season – and NCAA basketball hasn’t even started yet.

The play, which came in at #10 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays of the day on Friday, came during the team’s 3-1 victory over Maryville College on Wednesday (both teams are nicknamed the Scots). Covenant’s Hannah Harris had her attack dug by Maryville’s Allison Botts, and the ball eventually went through the basketball hoop still hanging at the other end of the court. While Maryville wound up returning the ball, the point was called dead and replayed.

Covenant believes that this is the first time that one of its athletic programs has ever been featured on SportsCenter. This is also the first time we’ve featured either school on VolleyMob.

After the win, Covenant moves to 6-6 this season, while Maryville fell to 3-8 with the loss. Both teams play in Division III of the NCAA.
