Creighton’s Marysa Wilkinson became the 13th player in program history to record 1,000 career kills, with fellow teammate Jaali Winters currently active in this category as well.
With Wilkinson accomplishing this feat in the Bluejays three-set sweep over St. Johns this weekend, Creighton becomes a part of an elite number of school’s that have two or more active players with 1,000 or more kills. Winters has 1,165 kills in her career while Wilkinson joins with an even 1,000.
For a middle blocker, Wilkinson has also been extremely consistent on the attack for the Bluejays. In her freshman season, Wilkinson slammed down 236 kills while improving in the next two seasons with 286 in her sophomore campaign and 321 to cap off her junior season. So far this season, Wilkinson has put down 157 kills for Creighton to set her over the 1,000 mark.
Her 1,000 kill came late in the third set of the sweep over St. Johns as she helped the Bluejays to a 23-17 lead.

“She’s such a team player and selfless player who would do anything for the team to be successful. She’s a kid you wish you have in your program another four years,” said Creighton head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth.
On top of her hitting performance, Wilkinson has also been a strong blocker for the Bluejays, now having 327 blocks while puts her in eighth place in school history in total blocks, surpassing Melissa Walsh’s 320.
Wilkinson has also been a strong front throughout the early part of the 2017 season for the Bluejays, helping the team to three top-15 wins this season over #3 Washington, #7 Kansas and #13 Kentucky. In those matches, Wilkinson recorded 11, 12 and 8 kills, respectively.
Up next for Creighton is Marquette and Depaul to continue their Big East road stint.
