2017 CEV EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – WOMEN

The Czech Republic will begin their 2017 Women’s European Championship run with Serbia on day one followed by Belgium and the Netherlands.

The team has been training vigorously for the championships. The Czech have a tough run in their pool play matches, as they are facing teams that are very strong and have proven their abilities over the summer. The Netherlands and Serbia both made the finals of the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix, while Belgium put up a good fight at the competition.

The Czech finished in fourth place during the preliminary round of the World Grand Prix with a 7-2 record. This was enough to put them in the final four of Group 2 at the competition, where they dropped their semifinal match to Poland in four and then again against Germany to take fourth place.

Marie Toufarova will lead the team at the European Championships, much like she did at the World Grand Prix. There she posted 28 points in the finals with 25 kills, two blocks and one ace.

The Czech will have to come out strong in order to advance into the further rounds of the championships.
