2017 AVP Tour – Chicago Championships

The 2017 AVP Tour is coming to a close, with the Chicago Championships rapidly approaching this weekend. The tournament will begin on August 31 with the qualification tournament and end on September 3 with the champions being crowned.

The Chicago Championships are also a part of the Gold Series events that the AVP Tour has offered this season. The Gold Series offers the players the chance for more points toward their AVP Tour totals and larger payout.

Last season, Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena took the top prize for the men while Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat claimed the women’s title at the championships.

Headlining the men’s side of the tournament will be Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena, who recently took the title of the 2017 FIVB World Tour Finals. The pair has a combined total of 3,255 points on the AVP Tour this season and enters as the #1 seed. Also competing on the men’s side are Trevor Crabb/Sean Rosenthal (#2 seed), Taylor Crabb/Jake Gibb (#3 seed), Billy Allen/Stafford Slick (#4 seed) and Theo Brunner/Casey Patterson (#5 seed).

On the women’s side, Emily Day and Brittany Hochevar sit as the top-seeded women’s pairing with 3,348 points. April Ross/Lauren Fendrick come in at the #2 seed, Summer Ross/Brooke Sweat (#3 seed), Betsi Flint/Kelley Larsen (#4 seed) and Kimberly DiCello/Emily Stockman (#5 seed).
