The Illinois high school volleyball state tournament has concluded and four teams have earned titles.
Class 1A
Sciota West Prairie takes the class 1A championship in a three set battle over Lanark (Eastland), 26-28, 25-21, 25-21.
For West Prairie Peyton Bowman slammed down 15 kills on a .538 hitting percentage. Hannah Thompson put down nine kills and picked up six digs. In the back court, Hunter Griffith picked up a match-best 23 digs.
For Lanark, Makenzie Fink put down a match-best 24 kills, while Ashley Beyers recorded a double-double with 22 assists and 12 digs. Gabby Snyder picked up 14 digs in the loss.
Class 2A
Eureka took down St. Joseph-Ogden in two sets for the class 2A title, 25-16, 26-24.
Lauren Rokey put down 10 kills for Eureka and a .435 hitting percentage with eight digs. Ashlyn Millett picked up 17 digs.
Leading St. Joseph-Ogden was Kylie Michael who recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 18 digs.
Class 3A
C Heights Marian defeated Woodstock (Marian) in a three set showdown for the 3A crown, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22.
For C Heights Marian, Temita Thomas-Ailara hammered down 18 kills on a .348 hitting percentage and nine digs. In the back court, Rachel Churlla picked up 12 kills.
Lauren Hanion led Woodstock with 11 kills, while Sydney Nemtuda added 10. Megan Schwallie picked up 13 digs in the back row.
Class 4A
Mother McAuley took the 4A state title with a three set victory over Minooka, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19.
Two double-doubles were recorded for Mother McAuley, with Charley Nego putting down 14 kills and 15 digs, while Katie O’Connell added 11 kills and 13 digs. In the back row, Emma Reilly picked up 14 digs.
Minooka had three players with double-doubles, Alli Papesh put down 20 kills and 10 digs, while Rocky Perinar added 12 kills and 11 digs and setter Brooklyn Bachman with 31 assists and 14 digs. In the back row, Holly Bonde picked up 11 digs and Taylor Baranski added 20 more in the teams effort.
