Following the conclusion of the 11th overall FIVB World Tour event in the 2017 calendar, there have been some updates to the rankings so far on the year.
The ninth, tenth and 11th FIVB World Tour events happened last week, including the Netherlands, China and the Principality of Monaco. The Hague was the only event to feature both men and women at the tournament, while Jiangning, Nanjing and Monaco each featured women’s only events.
In The Hague, Russia’s Nikita Liamin/Viacheslav Krasilnikov went a perfect 6-0 on the weekend to take the gold medal in the Netherlands on the men’s side of the competition, while Brazil’s Maria Antonelli/Carolina Salgado claimed gold on the women’s side. Jiangning was won by Americans Betsi Flint and Kelley Larsen. The win was the first career FIVB gold medal for Flint/Larsen. Finally, Juliana Felisberta/Carol Horta of Brazil took the gold medal in Monaco.
Men
Latvia’s Aleksandrs Samoilovs/Janis Smedins continue to hold the top spot in the rankings with 3,680 points, while USA’s Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena take the second spot with 3,240 points. Alison Cerutti/Bruno Schmidt claim the third slot with 2,732 points.
Women
Talita Antunes/Larissa Franca of Brazil claim the number one spot in the rankings with 4,020, while Germany’s Chantal Laboureur/Julia Sude come in second with 2,880, nearly 1,300 behind the leaders. Coming in at third place in the rankings is the Czech Republics Barbora Hermannova/Marketa Slukova with 2,780 points.
