The FIVB Executive Committee met in early May in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, as they reviewed the performance of the International Federation and also looked at new initiatives and innovative proposals ahead of the Board of Administration meeting. The FIVB Executive Committee focused on the latest financial reports, changes to the FIVB regulations and the proposals of the Commissions, in order to provide the necessary recommendations to the FIVB Board of Administration.

During the meeting, FIVB President Ary Graca had the following things to say:

“We are very pleased to be invited by the city of Sharm El Sheikh to hold our meetings in this beautiful location. The city is called the city of peace, our sport is the sport of peace – so we see a great combination here.

“For the FIVB the future has already begun, it is now! We base all our work on the principles of good governance and strong management. These are fundamental to the continued growth of the FIVB.”

All financial reports were approved by the Executive Committee, and they moved forward to the Board of Administration meetings on May 3rd to 4th. Many things were discussed, including the building excitement for volleyball at the upcoming 2020 Games in Tokyo, where the sport has become very popular.

“We have heard a number of proposals over the past two days and, because of the forward thinking ideas and determination to succeed, I am excited for the future of our sport,” said Graca.

The FIVB will hold its World Congress in November 2018 in Cancun, Mexico.
