For the first time ever, the FIVB President, Dr. Ary Graca made a historic visit to the United States to meet and work with USA Volleyball CEO Jamie Davis, NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and the members of the USA Volleyball Board of Directors.

On his first day in the United States, President Graca met with the chairman of the board, Lori Okimura along with other members of the FIVB’s beach volleyball commission Hoffiz to review the new strategic vision of USA Volleyball. The meeting covered a large array of topics, including humanitarian issues, joint development of future USAV-sanctioned international sports properties, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games preview and sponsorship opportunities for beach, indoor and sitting volleyball in the United States.

Recently, with the addition of Davis as the new USA Volleyball CEO, he has been in the talks of starting a domestic volleyball league in the United States. President Graca met with Davis to discuss this topic along with a large range of other issues.

On his stop in the United States, President Graca toured the USA Volleyball Open National Championships, one of the largest adult national championship events held in the United States. The event is being held in Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Convention Center. In the past, President Graca competed in the event four times.

President Graca’s main mission while being at the head of the FIVB has been to make sure that volleyball grows to become the world’s number one family sport. After his meetings with USA Volleyball, President Graca described his trip as a “historic day”, in that he was able to confirm that the FIVB and USA Volleyball are on the same page and committed to the same cause.

The FIVB is always looking to expand the sport of volleyball, and the United States is a key focus for the organization.
