Florida, Kentucky and Missouri Earn SEC Week 8 Honors

SEC Volleyball Week 8 Player of the Week:

Allie Monserez • Florida Redshirt Sophomore • 5-9 • Windermere, Fla.

Offensive Player of the Week:

Melanie Crow • Missouri Redshirt Junior • OH • 6-1 • Wildwood, Mo.

Crow posted a team-high 23 kills in Missouri’s 3-2 comeback win at Alabama Sunday as the Tigers remain undefeated in league play. Her 23 kills marked a career high and her third 20-plus kill match of the season. Crow also recorded 16 digs in the match for her team-leading seventh double-double this season. She averaged 4.80 points, 4.60 kills and 3.20 digs per set in the road win.

Defensive Player of the Week:

Rhamat Alhassan • Florida Junior • MB • 6-4 • Glenarden, Md.

Alhassan averaged 1.71 blocks per set in a pair of road victories for the Gators. She registered 10 total blocks in Florida’s four-set road win over defending SEC champion Texas A&M, becoming the only player in the SEC this year with 15-plus kills and 10-plus blocks in a match and recording just the fourth double-double by an SEC player that included 10 blocks. Alhassan’s 10 blocks also tied the third highest total by an SEC player in a four-set match this season.

Setter of the Week:

Allie Monserez • Florida Redshirt Sophomore • 5-9 • Windermere, Fla.

Monserez recorded 89 assists over two wins for the Gators this past weekend. She matched her career high with 57 assists in Florida’s win at Texas A&M, which also tied the highest total by any SEC player in a four-set match this season. Monserez posted her third double-double of the season at LSU, logging 32 assists and a career-high 16 digs. She continues to lead the SEC in assists per set (12.35) and has the Gators atop the SEC in hitting percentage (.323).

Freshman of the Week:

Leah Edmond • Kentucky Freshman • OH • 6-0 • Lexington, Ky.

Edmond averaged 4.17 points and 3.50 kills per set in a pair of three-set wins at Memorial Coliseum as Kentucky improved to 8-0 in conference play. She registered 11 digs, eight kills and two total blocks against Arkansas. Edmond then recorded 13 kills, eight digs and two total blocks against Ole Miss.
