Press Release courtesy of Florida State Athletics
The Florida State volleyball team (11-5, 5-3) is looking for two important redemption wins this weekend, as the Seminoles host Notre Dame (14-5, 4-4) on Friday (Oct. 20) and Louisville (13-5, 7-1) on Sunday (Oct. 22).
The Seminoles lost to both teams on the road earlier this season, falling in five sets to the Fighting Irish and three to the Cardinals. Before that weekend, FSU held a seven-match win streak over Notre Dame and had won the previous two matches against Louisville.
The Cardinals currently sits in third place in the ACC with a 7-1 conference record and a six-match win streak. The Fighting Irish falls right behind Florida State in eighth place with a 4-4 conference record.
These matches are pivotal for the Seminoles in the race for the ACC title, as two wins are likely to propel the team into the top five at the midway point of the conference season.
Friday night’s match against Notre Dame will also be the team’s annual Paint It Pink match, where the team will wear special pink jerseys to help raise awareness and support of breast cancer. Fans will also be given the opportunity to purchase special pink T-shirts at the match for $10.
Since the 2009-2010 season, Florida State’s partnership with TMH and the Paint It Pink campaign has raised over $85,000 towards breast cancer research.
