Former UC Riverside outside hitter Jessica Haynie is no longer listed on the team’s roster and listed as a San Francisco State volleyball commit by her former club team. The move would send Haynie to Division II in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Haynie will be a sophomore in the fall of 2018 with three years left of play. She should be immediately eligible to play right off the bat since she is leaving for a different division.
A native of Winchester, California, Haynie originally came to UC Riverside out of Chaparral High School where she made it to CIF twice, was second-team All-League as a senior and was named team MVP and captain as a sophomore.
In her lone season as a true freshman with UC Riverside, Haynie appeared across eight sets and eight matches, logging three kills. The loss leaves UC Riverside, who went 10-18 and 2-14 in the Big West in 2017, with two returning outside hitters for 2018.
San Francisco State finished their last season at 8-18 and 4-14 in the CCAA. They had six outside hitters on their 2017 roster, although two were in their senior season last year, including 14-match starter Christine Johnson (who ranked third on the team in kills per set).
