Hawaii Beach volleyball tacked on the commit of Maia Hannemann for 2019. Originally from Hermosa Beach, California, Hannemann has spent her most recent time in Jensen Beach, Florida dating back to 2014.

The daughter of former Hawaii men’s setter Albert (Al-B) Hannemann, Maia attends the Club Med NVL Volleyball Academy. Her commitment was noted by Hawaii Warrior World.

As a 12 year-old she won 20 beach tournaments in a row as she competed in her first pro beach tournament one year later. At age 14, she won the 16U NVL RIZE Global Challenge National Championships and was voted as the best defensive player. She also finished a career-best 13th at the Madeira Beach event.

Overall, in eight tournaments, Hannemann has two 13th-place finishes to go with four 17th, one 21st-place finish and one 33rd-place finish.

In 2016, Hawaii finished with a 29-7 record as they won the Big West Championship before finishing third in the NCAA Championships as they fell a match short of playing for the National Title.
