The Hungarian Volleyball Association (HVA) introduced to the fans and media (CEV) the new head coaches of their women’s and men’s national teams, the Belgian Jan De Brandt and Romanian Bogdan Tanase, respectively.

On the women’s side, this will be De Brandt’s second stint with the team, as he last coached the squad in 2016. Under his guidance, the team qualified for the Final Round of the 2015 and 2017 women’s European Championships and won the 2015 edition of the European League. As for the men’s side, this will be Tanase’s first experience with the team. He is the current head coach of Steaua Bucuresti. Here is how the coaches reacted:

“I am happy to be able to work with Hungary again and am hoping that we will be as successful as we were during my previous tenure.” – De Brandt

“I would like to thank the Hungarian Volleyball Association for choosing me and hope we can cooperate for a long time. I want to work hard with the team this year since we want to be successful in the Silver European League as well as in the qualifiers for next year’s European Championship.” – Tanase

The Hungarian national teams are currently ranked 30th and 118th in FIVB’s women’s and men’s ranking respectively. However, the sport has experienced rapid growth in the country lately, and the HVA hopes to capitalize on that with the choice of these two experienced coaches.
