The Idaho Vandals Women’s Volleyball Team is picking up a transfer in Alycia Wodke for the 2017 season. The 5’8″ outside hitter/libero will be a junior in 2017 and have two years left of eligibility after playing two seasons for College of Southern Idaho.
“I am extremely excited that Alycia is going to be joining our program this fall,” Idaho head coach Debbie Buchanan said in the team’s release of the transfer. “She is a very competitive player with a great mid-set. She is going to make our gym better.”
Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Wodke attended Willamette High School, where she was All-League four straight seasons in addition to earning All-State recognition in her final two years. Her endeavors earned her a spot with College of Southern Idaho, where she won a National Junior College National Championship. In total, she ended her career with 813 kills and 843 digs – both ranking fifth all-time in school history.
“Alycia has been a six rotation player the past two season at CSI,” Buchanan added in the Idaho release. “She is going to come in and compete on the outside and libero positions for us. She has outstanding ball control and amazing leadership on the court that will help us out right away.”
Wodke is listed as an outside hitter/libero. If she were to be a pin player, she’d be competing with eight other outside hitters on the roster. At the defensive specialist/libero spot, Idaho has two others on the team.
Idaho finished the 2016 season with an 11-18 record and a 6-10 mark in conference play. They last made the NCAA Tournament in 2004, when they eventually fell to Washington in the first round.
