The University of Illinois women’s volleyball program landed a commitment from Rylee Hinton. A 6’2″ middle blocker and outside hitter, Hinton would join the Fighting Illini for her freshman season in the fall of 2019. She made her commitment known last summer.

A junior this past season with Champaign Central High School in Illinois, Hinton helped her team to a 22-14 record and a Sectional Semifinal appearance. According to her MaxPreps profile, she recorded 235 kills (2.8 per set) on a .520 hitting percentage, 92 blocks (1.1 per set) and 15 digs (0.2 per set) as a middle blocker. Her performance earned her a spot on the honorable mention list of the News-Gazette All-State volleyball team.

On the club side, Hinton plays with Illini Elite Volleyball Club in Bloomington, Illinois. She has an 8’0″ standing reach, a 9’7.5″ block touch and a 10’2″ approach jump according to her NCSA recruiting profile, that also has video highlights of her game.

It’s the second class of 2019 commit that VolleyMob has registered in our Recruiting Database for Illinois, as Hinton joins MaxPreps’ National Sophomore Volleyball Player of the Year Ellie Holzman.

Illinois finished the 2017 season at 23-11 overall and 12-8 in the Big Ten. They also made the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament after downing Hawaii and #8 Washington in their first two matches. Their 2018 roster currently features two middle blockers that are both seniors, opening up the position for when Hinton arrives on campus.
