“It is exciting to get to play again and especially against a quality opponent in Kentucky,” said head coach Chris Tamas. “We have been working hard on continuing to make technical and tactical changes and we will see what we can implement in tonight’s match. It is also a great chance to bring one of our own, Beth Prince, back her hometown and alma mater. It should be a great environment for a spring match and a great learning opportunity for the team.”
The match will consist of four sets.
The Illini will next host back-to-back Friday night matches at Huff Hall, first taking on Bradley on April 6 at 7 p.m., before welcoming in Illinois State on April 13 at 6 p.m.
The Illini rounds out their spring campaign on April 20, facing Big 12 foe Iowa State in Davenport, Iowa, at 7:30 p.m. The Cyclones wrapped up this past season with a No. 25 ranking in the final AVCA Top-25 poll after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Illinois wrapped up the 2017 season – the first under Tamas – with a 23-11 overall record, tied for fifth in the Big Ten Conference with a 12-8 mark and advanced to their eighth NCAA Regional in the last 10 years.
