At a Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in India this past weekend, the Maharashtra State Volleyball Association (MSVA) let its secretary Balasaheb Suryavanshi and four other top officials go.
The five people that were fired were let go because they were indulging in anti-association activities at the AGM.
The MSVA president Vijay Dangre, has made claims that representatives of 21 out of 36 districts attended the AGM. Dangre has also stated that he is still the president of the MSVA and will continue to run the activities normally in the future, as well.
The MSVA has been split recently, which comes at no surprise. The two sides are led by Dangre, while Suryavanshi was leading the opposition.
In a meeting deemed illegal by Dangre in Shegaon, because most of the representatives belonged to parallel bodies of various districts, the Suryavanshi-led groupd sacked president Dangre in the emergency meeting.
Dange came back to sack Suryavanshi, along with Ratan Ligade, Sanjay Naik, Manish Joshi and Dilip Deshmukh. To take Suryavanshi’s place is Pune’s Nalish Japtap, being named the new general secretary.
All representatives that were sacked by president Dange have been replaced. As vice presidents, Vijay Santan, the Chandrapur District Volleyball Association and deputy director of sports, and Jalgaon’s Prof Devdatta Patil, were named as vice-presidents. Dinkar Deshpande was appointed as Mumbai division secretary replacing Naik, while Santosh Gajbhiye will be Amravati’s division secretary in place of Joshi.
Also being removed was Akola’s Sahebrao Patil, who has been facing legal and criminal cases, he was the chairman of referees’ board. Being appointed in his place is Nagpur’s senior administrator PS Pant.
“Our AGM was attended by the genuine 21 districts of the state. One official from Maharashtra Olympic Association and Volleyball Federation of India were the observers and they have submitted a positive report in our favor.” said the veteran city administrator. “For anti-association activities, we sacked the culprits.”
India will now hold the U16 state championship at Warora from January 21-23.
