The winner of the Honda Sports Award for Volleyball was announced as Stanford’s redshirt senior, Inky Ajanaku.

The news was announced by Chris Voelz, the Executive Director of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA). The Honda Sports Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for 41 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. With receiving the award, Ajanaku becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2017 Honda Cup. These awards will be presented on CBS Sports Network on June 26, 2017 in a live television event in downtown Los Angeles.

Ajanaku was chosen for the award by a vote of administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools.

Other finalists for the award included – Ebony Nwanebu (Texas), Kadie Rolfzen (Nebraska) and Sarah Wilhite (Minnesota).

“I am nothing but humbled to win this award because I know that many of the people that played against me and the people that played beside me this season are all deserving of the very same recognition,” said Ajanaku.

Ajanaku helped lead the Cardinals to their record-tying seventh national title. She was named as the 2016 NCAA Final Four MOP. Ajanaku is a three-time AVCA First Team All-America and was a 2016 Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American.

This season, Ajanaku received her fourth All-Pac-12 Conference honor, as she led the league with 192 blocks this season, ranking fifth nationally. She ended her career with 627 total blocks, the most in Stanford history.
