The International Olympic Committee has released a schedule for the 131st IOC Session this fall, including a date for the selection of the 2024 Olympic host city: September 13, 2017.

The schedule includes a session on Wednesday the 13th that is listed from 9 AM to 6 PM. In that session, the candidate cities (at this point, just Los Angeles and Paris) will make presentations, the IOC will vote on the host site, and then announce the host city in a press conference.

You can view the full schedule here.

The IOC Session itself will run from September 13-16 in Lima Peru, but the schedule suggests we should know the 2024 Olympic host by the end of the first day. The tide has seemed to flow in favor of Paris recently, but the IOC has publicly been very positive about both bids.

The other news piece of note from the IOC’s announcement about its 131st Session is that there is no information on a potential 2028 host announcement. There were rumblings that the IOC would choose to award the 2024 and 2028 bids simultaneously, giving one to Paris and the other to Los Angeles. The chairman of the LA 2024 bid has said publicly that the bid wasn’t just about 2024, suggesting the city would be interested in hosting the 2028 Games instead. But if the IOC is still considering awarding two bids at once, there’s nothing in its latest press release to suggest the matter will be part of discussions in Lima.
