Isabelle Haak Earns Gazzetta Trophy As 18-Year-Old

Sweeden’s Isabelle Haak first made a name for herself last year with her French club team, Beziers, when she scored 46 points in the team’s French Cup finals loss as a 17-year-old. Now, Haak has garnered the Gazzetta Trophy, a high honor in Italy, as an 18-year-old.

In her first season with Savino Del Bene Scandicci in the Italian Serie A1 league, Haak has made a name for herself. So far this season, Haak has put down a league-leading 462 points this season in 75 sets of play. She has put down 403 kills, 32 aces and 27 blocks – this was enough to get her the prize.

“I did not think it would go so well in Italy right away,” said Haak.

Haak is still studying to get her high school diploma remotely in Italy where she currently lives with her mother. Her sister, Anna Haak, is a current player at Marquette University in American after transferring from the University of Miami after two seasons.

This season is not quite over, though, for Haak or Scandicci as there is still one more match in the regular season. Scandicci will face off against Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio who ranks 4th in the league behind Scandicci who sits in 3rd.
