Japan, who remained undefeated throughout the competition, wins the SMM 11th Asian Boys’ U19 Volleyball Championship with a 3-0, (25-17, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Korea.
In their journey to becoming the champions, Japan stayed undefeated in all contests played – even remaining perfect in sets without dropping a single one.
For Japan, Kento Miyaura recorded a team-best 19 points, including 17 kills while teammate Hirohito Kashimura blocked four balls. For Korea, Lim Sungjin posted 10 points with eight kills while Im Donghyeok produced another eight kills.
China took home the bronze after taking down defending champions Iran in four 3-1, (22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19).
China’s Zhang Jingyin put down a match-best 22 points with 19 being kills while Tian Cong added another 13 kills and four stuff blocks. Iran’s Morteza Sharifi led the team with 20 points, all from kills while Ali Tabari produced 17 kills.
From the championships the top four squads have advanced to the 2017 FIVB Volleyball U19 World Championship in Bahrain from August 18-27.

Japan had three players earn prestigious awards at the event. Kento Miyaura earned MVP, Shunichiro Sato took home the Best Middle Blocker award while Mahiro Sake earned the Best Outside Spiker.
