After leading King University to a Conference Carolinas tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history, Jeff Sprayberry has signed to play with Karelian Hurmos in Finland. The club played in the second division of Finnish volleyball last year, but will be playing in the Messtaruusliiga in 2018-2019.
“Jeff has worked hard and is deserving to okay at the professional level,” King Head Coach Ryan Booher said. “I am so proud of this young man and even happier that he will represent King at the next level. He will be a great asset to their team and I wish him all the best in his next adventure in life.”
While in college, Sprayberry was twice named an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention. He was All-Conference Carolinas on three occasions and named to the first team the each of the last two seasons. At the end of the 2017 season Sprayberry was named the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year. He was the first player in program history to reach at least 1000 kills in a career, finishing with 1,249. His 3.40 kills per set rank second as do his 90 aces and 528 digs.
Sprayberry was a part of two regular season conference titles. As mentioned before, they won the conference tournament in 2018 and earned the right to play in the NCAA tournament. They lost in the first round against Ohio State. Spraberry led King with 13 kills and a block assist while hitting 0.296.
