Stanford will play televised home dual matches against California (April 11) and No. 1 USC (April 18) at the Stanford Sand Volleyball Stadium.
Former Stanford standout and four-time Olympic medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings will be in attendance for the dual against Cal, with the first serve set for 4 p.m. PT. Walsh Jennings, a 2000 graduate of Stanford with a degree in American Studies, will sign autographs at 3:15 p.m. before a short ceremony in her honor inside the stadium.
“We have an exciting couple of weeks ahead,” said first-year head coach Andrew Fuller. “Playing top-notch competition in Cal and USC, and the chance for the student-athletes and fans to experience a great atmosphere is wonderful for the program.”
The Cardinal (7-4 overall, 1-1 Pac-12) holds a 2-2 all-time record against the Golden Bears (10-5, 2-2), who last visited the Stanford Sand Volleyball Stadium on March 11, prevailing in a 3-2 decision.
The following Tuesday (April 18), Stanford will host No. 1 USC at 3:30 p.m.The Trojans (20-0, 4-0) have held the top spot in the AVCA Poll for every week of the season, and this is the first meeting between the two programs. First-year head coach Andrew Fuller served as an assistant coach for USC from 2012-15.
“Kerri Walsh Jennings being honored at our Cal match is a great chance for everyone in attendance to experience a very real connection between our sport’s past and future,” added Fuller. “College beach volleyball owes a lot to Kerri – Tuesday is an opportunity for fans to see possible future Olympians on television and in person at an amazing venue.”
This upcoming Friday, the Cardinal will play host to San Francisco at 2 p.m.and San Jose State at 4 p.m. at the Stanford Sand Volleyball Stadium. Following Stanford’s dual match against California, the Cardinal hosts Oregon on April 14, followed by matchups against Boise State and Washington on April 15.
