The Italian men’s LegaVolley season is rapidly approaching but bad new struck Kioene Padova as their libero, Nicolo Bassanello is now out for 2-3 months.

The young libero has right shoulder issues and has opted out of the beginning of the season to have surgery. The expected recovery time for the surgery is around two to three months. In his absence, Bassanello will be replaced by 19-year-old Leonardo Scanferla from the youth squad.

Kioene Padova is full of Italian-born players, having just three foreigners on their squad – two Serbians (Lazar Cirovic and Petar Premovic) and one American (Lucas Yoder).

Last season, Kioene Padova finished toward the end of the pack in ninth place with a 10-16 overall record. Their record kept them out of the playoffs section of the season. This year, Kioene Padova will open their 2017-18 season with an away match at Sir Safety Conad Perugia at the PalaEvangelisti. Recently, Sir Safety won the Italian men’s Super Cup over Cucine Lube Civitanova.

Kioene Padova will have a challenging season ahead of them, especially with a less experience libero having to step up in one of the most difficult volleyball leagues in the world.
