Little Rock Heads To South Alabama, Troy

After playing four of its last five matches at home, Little Rock volleyball (7-14, 3-6 Sun Belt) will once again hit the road to take on Sun Belt East Division leader South Alabama (13-5, 8-0 Sun Belt) and Troy (8-15, 2-6 Sun Belt) on Friday and Saturday. Little Rock will face South Alabama on Friday at 6:30 p.m., before facing Troy on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., on ESPN3.

Little Rock is 29-6 all-time against South Alabama and is 15-1 against the Jaguars when playing in Mobile. Little Rock’s only loss at South Alabama occurred in a five-set match in 2010. Little Rock’s last visit to South Alabama in 2015 resulted in a three-set win for the Trojans. The Jags have had some success against the Trojans in recent years as they’ve won the last two matches played in Little Rock.

Little Rock is 12-3 all-time against Troy. When playing in Troy, Little Rock is 5-2 all-time. Little Rock’s last visit to Troy in 2015 didn’t go as planned as Troy took the match in three sets. Before that, Little Rock had won two consecutive matches in Troy and five consecutive matches overall. Last year, Little Rock defeated Troy in four sets at the Jack Stephens Center.

After concluding business in Alabama, Little Rock will return to the Jack Stephens Center for a pair of matches against Georgia Southern and Georgia State Oct. 27 and 28.

  • Veronica Marin is 20 kills shy of 600 for her career.
  • Marin leads the Sun Belt with a .350 hitting percentage and 98 total blocks.
  • With 875 career digs, Sydnee Martin is 25 away from her 900th at Little Rock and is 21 away from passing Danlynn Brown (1997-00) for the 10th most in program history.
  • With 377 digs for the season, Martin is 13 away from moving into the top 10 for digs in a single season at Little Rock. Her total ranks fourth in the Sun Belt and 51st nationally.
  • Martin has tallied four consecutive matches with 20-plus digs — the longest streak by a Trojan since Ana Carolina Buccini in 2006.
  • Mya Robinson has put together four double-double performances this season — the most by a Little Rock freshman since Edina Begic in 2011.
  • Little Rock’s 194 total blocks lead the Sun Belt and rank 35th nationally.
