Lokovolley Youth Tournament Brings In Record-Breaking Numbers

The annual Lokovolley tournament that is organized by Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in Russia brought in a record number of participants at 3,500.

This is the eighth year that the Lokovolley tournament has taken place. In the early rounds of the tournament, the four Federal Districts host the teams playing. Teams from the Amur and Nizhny Novgorod regions – Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk – qualified for the finals, with the teams combining for all seven of the Lokovolley titles.The finals will take place in Saint Petersburg for the first time and with feature the hosts along with the national teams of Serbia, Mongolia and Finland. The matches will take place at the Volleyball Academy from January 25-28, 2018.

In the inaugural season in 2010, there were just 500 players representing the four branches of the West Siberian Railway. The following year, branched out from just Siberian teams to allowing participation from the Far Eastern Federal District. This included 80 cities and more than 1,500 players in participation.

The competition has grown rapidly every year with nearly 500 participants being added each year. The amount from the last edition moved up 700 as there were 2,700 in the 2016-17 version of the Lokovolley event.
