The LSU beach volleyball team is tied for eighth in the latest standings in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, marking its highest ranking in program history.

LSU jumped two spots in the rankings after coming in at No. 10 in the preseason, retaining the AVCA standing after the first week of the season.

“It’s an honor to be recognized and to move up in the polls again. It’s a testament to the hard work the team has put in and the way they have been playing,” said head coach Russell Brock.

On the season, LSU has played one of the toughest schedules in the nation after squaring off against six teams ranked in the top-10, including three of the top four schools.

At the East vs. West tournament, LSU blanked previously unranked Cal Poly on Sunday, who came in at No. 15 in the new poll. The Lady Tigers also defeated then No. 9 Stetson at the Stetson Invitational to close out the opening weekend of the season.

“We aren’t satisfied, and we will work to improve,” added Brock. “We have a big weekend against another group of strong, ranked opponents, and we know that we have to keep playing well.
