LSU’s Bannister Downs 36 Kills vs. SMU En Route to SEC Honors

LSU’s Taylor Bannister capped a banner week with her fourth career SEC honor following three Freshman of the Week nods in 2017. Georgia’s Meghan Donovan earned her third setter of the week honor of 2018.

Offensive Player of the Week

LSU’s Taylor Bannister was named the MVP of the SMU Doubletree Classic after averaging 6.33 points and 5.56 kills per set. She recorded a career-high 36 kills in win over SMU, the second-most kills in a five-set match in program history.

Defensive Player of the Week

Florida’s Taelor Kellum posted 22 total blocks in a 4-0 week for the Gators. She began the week with four total blocks at Florida State, and then registered 12 total blocks in the Honda of Gainesville Gator Invitational.

Setter of the Week

Georgia’s Meghan Donovan averaged 12.3 assists per set this past week. She ran an offense that hit .328 against N.C. State with a three-set season-best 42 assists. Donovan set a career-best 57 assists at Georgia Tech.

Freshman of the Week

Auburn’s Bella Rosenthall helped the Tigers to a 2-0 mark this past week with 5.00 digs per set. In Auburn’s come-from-behind win at Kennesaw State, she tallied a career-high 25 digs. Rosenthall then paced the Auburn defense in the win against Florida State with 20 digs Sunday.
