Maciagowski’s 1000th Kill, UNI’s 5th-Straight Win Highlight MVC Play

Northern Iowa won its fifth-straight match, all in Missouri Valley play, to claim the top spot in the league standings on Friday night, besting Illinois State in a sweep. Valparaiso won in five sets over Loyola to stay right on the Panthers’ heels at 5-1.

Loyola senior Gabi Maciagowski registered eight kills to surpass the 1,000 putaway milestone, making her the fifth active MVC player to do so.

UNI won its fifth straight match and has won 15 of 16 sets during MVC play, claiming a sweep over Illinois State, snapping an eight-match win streak for the Redbirds. Karlie Taylor led the way for the Panthers, recording a team high 18 kills.

Milestone Reached

Loyola senior Gabi Maciagowski joined the 1,000 kill club in Friday’s 3-2 loss to Valparaiso. Maciagowski is one of five action players in the MVC with 1,000 kills. Evansville’s Mildrelis Rodriguez is four kills away from joining the club.
