Marist Pink Out To Be Streamed Through Facebook Live

The Marist volleyball team (10-11, 7-3 MAAC) will continue its five-match home stand when it hosts arch Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Siena at 7 p.m. Friday, October 20.

Friday will be the Red Foxes’ Pink Out match to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. Marist will be selling pink Marist Volleyball T-shirts for $10 with all proceeds going to the Miles of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides funds, support services, and outreach for people affected by breast cancer within the eight counties of the Hudson Valley. The Red Foxes will also wear pink jerseys for the contest.

If you are unable to attend the Friday evening match live stats will be available and the contest will be broadcast exclusively through Facebook Live on theMarist Athletics Facebook page. Geoff Brault will handle play by play duties and Mike Cahill will provide color analysis.

SPLIT WEEKEND

Marist split its matches in McCann Arena to kick off its home stretch, falling to Fairfield, 3-0, on Oct. 14 and shaking off a first set loss to come back and beat Quinnipiac, 3-1, the following day.

The victory over the Bobcats was the Red Foxes’ second one of this season. Marist had three hitters register double-digit kills and hit .250 as a team to take down Quinnipiac.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Senior Kelsey Ediger posted a double-double against the Bobcats, leading Marist with 19 kills alongside 10 digs. She also had four blocks and a service ace. Junior Taylor Van Der Biezen has set her teammates up for success all year, as she is currently ranked fourth in the MAAC with 8.58 assists per set. Her 28 service aces also put her at fourth in the conference heading intotomorrow night.

SCOUTING REPORT

Siena (3-18, 3-7 MAAC) has won three out of its last five matches as it defeated Manhattan, Saint Peter’s and Quinnipiac respectively. The Saints are third in the conference, averaging 0.57 aces per set.

Saints’ freshman Dakota Jackson has slammed a team-best 155 kills alongside 11 service aces while classmate Nicole Doebler has swiped 20 service aces to lead Siena.

LOOKING AHEAD

Marist will host Rider and Saint Peter’s on Oct. 28 and 29 respectively to conclude its streak of five straight matches in McCann Arena. First serve for both contests will be 1 p.m.

Sunday’s match against the Peacocks will be Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.Each student-athlete will invite one Marist faculty or staff member that has impacted their time at the college the most to attend the match.
