This week’s Big East Player of the Week is Marquette’s Allie Barber, who is repeating for a second week in a row and her fourth time this season. Also receiving recognition this week are Villanova’s Allison Fitzgerald and Butler’s Natalie Ravenell.
Player of the Week
Allie Barber – Marquette – sophomore
This is Barber’s fourth honor of the season as she helped guide Marquette to a sweep over then #12 Creighton where she posted 21 kills in the win. On the week, Barber averaged 6.08 points per set while hitting for .477.
Marquette is still unbeaten in conference play and Barber’s 21 kills against the Bluejays was a conference-high this week.
Defensive Player of the Week
Allison Fitzgerald – Villanova – senior
For the week, Fitzgerald picked up an average of 3.17 digs per set while having 10 digs in the team’s win against St. John’s. She also helped the team held their opponents to a low .129 hitting percentage and allowed just 0.83 aces per set.
Freshman of the Week
Natalie Ravenell – Butler – freshman
Ravenell recorded 3.86 points per set including 1.14 blocks per set, 3.29 kills per set and a .321 hitting clip. Additionally, Ravenell picked up 2.17 digs per set and recorded a double-double in the team’s win over St. John’s with 13 kills, 10 digs and seven blocks.
