Mia Jerkov Signs With Turkish Champions Fenerbahce

Seasoned Croatian volleyball player, Mia Jerkov, has signed a new contract with Fenerbahce Sk in the Turkish Premier League. Jerkov comes from playing with Canakkale Municipality, who is also in the Turkish League.

Last season, Canakkale finished the season ranked #6 after the regular season concluded, propelling them into the playoffs of the Turkish League. There they were bested by Eczacibasi in the first round in straight matches. Fenerbahce, on the other hand, finished the season on top, defeating Galatasaray in the finals match.

Previously, Jerkov played with the University of California from 2001 until 2004, where she was a strong fixture on the team throughout her four-year volleyball career with the Bears. This was the start of her volleyball career.

Following her collegiate career, Jerkov began her professional career with Uralochka-NTMK Ekaterinbug in Russia for two seasons. Next, she spent four years in Italy with three different clubs – Volley 2002 Forli Bologna (2005-06), Cosme Ceis Vicenza (2006-07) and Rebecchi Volley Piacenza (2009-10). Front there, Jerkov headed out of Europe to play with Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders in South Korea from 2010-12. She then came to Turkey to play with Bursa Belediyesi Istanbul, then back to Asia to compete with Denso Airybees in Japan. This leads up to her returning to Turkey to play with Canakkale and now Fenerbahce.
